Re: Proto Cosmos
Great tone as usual and good chops too.
Now what needs to be worked on...
The emotion, for some reason I have a hard time sensing any emotion or vibe to some of your pieces. I think the main reason for that is the need that you have to 'shred', because it's clearly obvious that you can, and with good technique. But sometimes, it can be that very strict-to-technique attitude that drains the feeling that must be in contact with the solos.
Spacing, partly tied into with emotion. When all the notes are coming at 100mph it doesn't leave you with enough time to suck up all the last bit of a singing note. Listen to some solos from David Gilmour...the ones that come to head are "The Thin Ice", "Mother", "Dogs", "Time", and "Comfortably Numb". Even when you you listen to John Petrucci, he can "sing" with his guitar. Sure he CAN shred and sweep all day, but when you hear his melodic and soulful solos, it just beats everything...even when it's incorporated with shred during, before, or after.
I'm sure you can understand what I'm saying, since you are without doubt a very talented player. I'm sorry if it came off harsh, but to tell you the truth, everyone in this forum could go on for paragraphs about your chops and your amazing knowledge on technique to back it up. Oh wait, you got great tone too! See what I mean?
Just trying to help an already great Guitarist.
