Re: Prototype Builds

any stories behind them?

I started with an old Silvertone archtop acoustic guitar that had a crack on face of the guitar. I did not know how to repair it and it would have cost more than the guitar was worth. I tried an experiment using sheet brass stock and turned the Silvertone into an electric brass topped guitar. I cut lightning bolts on each side of the guitar instead of F holes. I installed a Bill Lawrence X500, in the neck position and I designed a bridge for it. I installed a volume pot and a jack. It looked iconic, vintage and felt like it had Mojo. When I plugged this guitar in, (I was playing slide) this guitar wailed with an intense Blues ferocity that brought chills up my spine. Somebody tried to steal my design and when his' daughter heard this guitar, she said "That guitar sounds soooo evil!" And she meant it. She was right. That is the baddest sounding slide guitar I ever heard and even the would be thief had to admit it. This guitar was featured in the March of 1999 Guitar Player Magazine on page 59. On the cover is a photo of Duane Allman. Anyway, realizing what quality guitars are made from and I cannot afford to buy all that I survey or would love to own, I built my own. Somehow, someway I found out that I got game for building guitars and how great they sound.

Re: Prototype Builds

You are absolutely correct and they are my favorite. Here in America, they are known as Schaller 475.

I know that bro i just call them 3d6 it sounds cooler haha. Have you noticed the new ones come with both option of top loading and string through? Thats a great idea if you want to try the whole splitting 3 strings thru the body and 3 top loading.
