PRS 10 Tops

Re: PRS 10 Tops

There is a small 10 on the back of the headstock near the top point.

Re: PRS 10 Tops

The 10 top SHOULD have a tighter deeeper figuring..... but I´ve seen normal PRS tops that were excessively deep and would easily pass for a ten, and I´ve seen a few not quite that nice tens, as well....

AFAIK there´s no way on the guitar itself in the sense of a marking or whatnot, but I´m not a PRS expert..... Others may have more info on that one ;)

*EDIT* ARG, because I forgot to hit "reply" TA ended up in between :smack::D:D

Those 10's are marked as indicated above.

You can look at the tops and tell.

Re: PRS 10 Tops

so if its not marked its not a 10 top? How does 3200 canadian sound for a Custom 24 with Bird inlays and three way toggle and coil tap??? This is a brand new guitar

Re: PRS 10 Tops

right, if it is not marked as such, it isnt a '10' top ...

that price sounds pretty high ... how much in US$ is that?

check out www.birdsandmoons.com for more than you want to know about PRS guitars .. the folks there are everybit as friendly as the folks here and they really know there stuff (just like folks here) .. i'd buy a pre-loved PRS from just about anyone on that board with high confidence ...

sorry you're missin' 'deep blue sea' scott ... she is well loved in her new home ... i had her out for a full volume spin this weekend ... never seen a pic of her yet that looks as good as she does in person

i am sure your LPs keep you pleasant company :D

cheers

Unless you're really into cosmetics, I'd take a look at the CE line. It's the same guitar as the Custom, except with a maple bolt on neck versus the mahogany. Sure, it doesn't have the bird inlays or the supposed "10" top, but IMO the maple neck brings out a more defined tone that can't be found in the Custom. Don't get me wrong, the Custom is a beautiful guitar and has phenominal tones of it's own. But personally, however, I prefer a CE.
Don't let the "bolt on" neck scare you either. Paul Reed Smith originally made CE's with a maple glue in, but for the sole purpose that Paul himself wasn't happy with the tonal qualities of the glue maple on the CE, he changed the entire line to bolt on.

You lazy Americans! Don't you have Google over there? :)

By the way, in case our advanced Canadian website is a little too challenging for you, the answer is $2,599.36.

I don't know much about PRS pricing (since they stopped making lefty's, I don't pay any attention to that brand), so I don't know if that is high or not.

That's pretty high for a non-10 top unless it includes GST. List price (in the US) for a Cu24 w/birds is 3300 USD. Through in a reasonable 35% discount and that'd be $2145 before taxes.

One other thing to keep in mind is that Artist Package guitars are not marked as 10s ('cause they tend to be 11s :saeek:). In addition to the outrageous tops, the AP includes snazzier paua birds, gold hardware, and a leather case.
