...it sounds like a nice solid mahogany guitar but with a little more air to it, a bit more clarity but I hear nothing in it that reminds me of maple.

I'd say that is a good description of a korina guitar. Back when I was in luthier school, I built two solid korina electrics...1pc bodies, 1 pc necks, rosewood boards, set neck, Gibson scale length. Their about all I've played for the past 15 years. Before that my main guitar was a '89 Gibson Fly V ('67 reissue).

Nice guitar...you will love it!

Yeah, I have a DD/C hybrid that metalmachine made me.
I was going to put it in my strat build, but I'm thinking about putting it in here.

...I've always thought it sounded like a slightly more airy mahogany, like good mahogany with a bit if swamp ash in the mix.

All my guitars are 22. I guess I just prefer it.

Yeah, RG570, RG7420 and SE24

Progress is a little slow because I'm doing all the work in a friend's workshop, and our schedules have to match in order to get anything done.


As for the finish, I'm either going to do a danish/tung oil finish, or a satin clear coat.


And I've decided on a bridge pickup: C/DD Hybrid with an A8!

from what I heard a DD is a JB with a ceramic mag right?

and since output strength goes A5 A8 Ceramic, you split the difference between the two for the 'ultimate bridge PU'

Similar but not identical.
Should have the best of both worlds

Search the forum for "C/DD" or "C/JB"....there's some members who have tried this, and they love it!
