PRS 305 pickups

Anybody seen under the hood of these? They’re weird.

Was shielding mine last night, and pulled one of the lead wires loose. I’ll take a pic and post it when I fix it later, but rather than Alnico slugs or a bar under steel slugs, it looks like an Alnico bar cut into 6 chunks, 90 degrees to their typical orientation under each string.

It looks like PRS is using individual magnets beneath each pole piece, so the pole pieces are probably steel slugs similar to what you'd find in a traditional humbucker.

All 3 of the pickups appear to be the same, and compliment their respective positions well. The more time I spend with it and the more I tweak the heights, the more it’s becoming my favorite Strat, haha.

I would assume they are, but didn’t check while it was taken apart.

Very interesting. So it's built sort of like half a humbucker........

I just got a DC3 and like the pickups a lot more than the usual alnico slug singles. They have super low string pull so they don't compromise sustain like alnico rods do, and they track extremely well and are super sensitive to touch, noticeably moreso than alnico slug singles.
