What's up guys... Been reading this forum a while looking to switch it up. I have a prs se 30th anniversary custom 24, that has the se hfs/vb pickups in it which are ok but sound a lil brittle off the bridge and a lil muddy off the neck. Looking for something a lil different change of pace.... Prs is supposedly mahogany with a maple top but have head conflicting things on that. Well I'm wondering how a evh Frankenstein would sound in the bridge also open to opinions on custom 78 pair or the im1 custom - which I might be more interested in cuz of the a5 in it. I play metal/rock through a 6505+, but use this guitar in standard tuning for pretty much everything, wanting something different than everything. Also was thinking maybe a alinco 2 in bridge for that smooth solo creamy tone. Your comments suggestions..... Fire away!!!!!!

Anyone? I'm not looking to imitate or replicate eddies sound, I'm more interested in a slightly different tone than the normal jb/jazz distortion//59.

Are you open to swapping magnets? If so, just for s&g, put an A4 in the neck and an A8 in the bridge.

Would swapping magnets make that much of a difference in the shrill of the hfs and the mud of the neck? I've swapped pickups never played with the magnets though .... I am interested now lol

An A4 in the neck will even out the response of the pickup. If you like the over all tone, it will clean it up for you. The A8 should fatten up the bridge pup while keeping the top end bite. Lots of nice harmonics too.

Something like that would be my recommendation as well. I put an A4 in the neck and an A5 in the bridge on my SE Cu24, and it really helped with the nasal/sterile sound of the stock PUs.
