PRS Santana SE - 59 neck + what?

Hey everyone,

I realize there are a few threads dealing with this topic, but I thought I'd start a fresh one to see if people maybe have some new thoughts. I have a PRS Santana SE (2002) that I'm looking to put some new pickups in. A friend of mine has offered to give me a 59 for the neck, so I figured I would go with that since the price is right. My question then is what to pair with it. I'm interested in versatility, but play primarily blues/classic rock/hard rock/metal. Any suggestions for a combo that would cover these styles? Thanks in advance!

I am not happy with the 59 neck in every guitar i tried, but i love the 59 Bridge to death. gritty, dirty and everything ....

The '59 neck is a great pickup for blues and classic rock, it kills in my Epi Dot. I'd try and match it with something similar but a little higher output for the bridge . . . maybe a Custom or Custom Custom depending on how bright your guitar is.

I am thinking this guy should try a 59 set. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the replies, guys. Initially I was leaning towards either a JB or Custom in the bridge - would these be good choices? About doing a set of 59s - I thought about that too, but wasn't sure if that would cover me on the heavy rock/metal end of the spectrum - or can two 59s do the heavy stuff too?

The '59 can do the heavy stuff, but the Custom will do it better!
