PRS SE Singlecut w JB/Jazz

I thinking of getting a Singlecut SE either normal or Korina and putting in the JB(A8) and Jazz I have sitting on a shelf.

Any thoughts?

Re: PRS SE Singlecut w JB/Jazz

I have the very thing, though not Korina. It sounds amazing. Very 80s rock in the bridge and smooth and full in the neck.

My SE is really well built and resonant. They are a great deal for the money

Just as long as you know going into it knowing that a JB is a wild card in that guitar, anywhere from great to 'atrocious.' If it's not to your liking, do you know how to swap pots and mags easily enough? If so, go for it.

The JB may be a little too aggressive. I put one in my Korina and pulled it out not long after. It's much better with low output pickups. I have Air Classics in mine.

I also have an SE Singlecut regular with the JB/Jazz set and it sounds pretty good to me although I would like a less hot pickup for the bridge than the JB. I'll probably try a mag swap one of these days.

I have an SE Singlecut with PRS 7 humbuckers and upgraded pots. This gives pretty much what MisterE describes. IMO, the sound is more SG than LP.

The staple pickup suggestion is a good one. I'd prefer either Phat Cats or, for maximum versatility, P-Rails mounted in Triple Shot surrounds.

You nailed it right there Funkfingers, the more SG than LP is the right comparison. If you like AC/DC, then you'll love that combo.

And yes, now that you mention it I wish I had gone with at least one PRAIL, IMO the bridge.
