PRS Silver Sky: Talk me out of it!

Re: PRS Silver Sky: Talk me out of it!

They make some quality guitars! See for me I’m not a fan of the headstock or body shape on those, but to each his own. That’s why we have so many brands and models.

Agree on the headstock. I don't mind the shape, but don't like the brand name decal.

However, I'd look past it because they are so incredible. Love the no truss rod carbon neck design thing. The tremolo is great. Quality as good as anything I've touched.

I wouldn't kick this one out of bed:

Not bad, but it would be better without the pickguard. While I have Strats with pickguards, my pick never comes in contact with them, so if given the choice, I'd rather see some flamey wood than plastic.

I get what you mean, however I believe the tone that a Strat makes comes in part because of the pickguard. I’m talking about a 3 single coil Strat. Without the pickguard I don’t think it’ll sound quite right.

That would be a hard thing to test I'd imagine.

Forgot to mention Suhr. I have actually held them, and I think they’re beautiful guitars but when I had one in my hand although it was awesome quality it didn’t give me that vibe like this guitar does or the EJ Strat. Edit: I tried out two Strat Suhrs and a Tele.

Suhr and Kramer beak necks are the same headstock shape. Suhr guitars even have the Floyd Rose nut half way off the shelf like the old Kramer’s beak necks like mine that were retrofitted Floyds.

I have had the opposite reaction after playing a few Silver Stars then picking up a Suhr, Anderson or Kiesel Delos. The Silver Star just wasn't what inspired me the others did. Was likely the flatter boards and SS frets on the others for one thing. Have a set neck PRS Custom 24 with a wide thin and the 25 scale to me that is what a PRS should feel like and the Silver Star just wasn't my thing. If it speaks to YOU thats the main thing as they are very nice guitars.
Congrats on finding a guitar that inspires YOU as in the end that's the absolute most important thing of them all not what others think!
