it is to the east, you would take clearwater avenue down till it dead ends, or turns into some other street, then go north til you hit kennewick ave then east and it will be on the left hand side (if you are going east). it is in the old downtown area. You know where the blue bridge is? It is south of there. If you get to the fairgrounds you went to far east. how do you like my directions :smack:
My head is spinning......LOL! Thank you sir!

Re: Pulled the Trigger!!!

I think these prices are OUT THERE!

I'd never pay so much for a guitar even if i had the money.

For 1600 You can build yourself something like that from Heritage!

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive from Jay Wolfe, but this is what 1588 bought me:
Flamed eastern maple top, South american mahogany (light wood), Duncan Antiquities in aged covers, TonePros aluminum bridge and tailpiece, Neck body and headstock binding, sperzel perloid tuners, ebony fretboard, mother of pearl inlays, bone nut, in dark almond sunburst.
And in my opinion I expect my guitar to sound absolutely superior to those gibsons you have there...

Cool story. I was starting to have an panic attack waiting for the punch line :laugh2: The trans black is very cool!!
I have been lusting over a 59 LP in a local shop for some time but it's dreaming for me. It does sound better than the other LPs they have even better than the Supreme they have in stock.

So how much!!!?

:22: :) :22: :) If you use my math equation above, you will be pretty darn close to the price :22:

Like I said earlier the price was as good or better than the used guitars I was refering to above.

sweet, sweet, sweet...

but what's this gibson internet thing you're talking about?!

Gibson does not want stores to advertise, or show individual pics on websites. Most dealers, like willcut and wildwood have removed gibsons pics from the internet. MM hasn't yet. Probably because they have a HUGE inventory, and they are in a relatively small town.

I have tried heratige guitars in the past, and I do like them. I also like hamers, guild, and the list goes on and on and on. I never descriminate when it comes to guitars. I may try to get one in the future. I guess you could say GJ inspired me to an extent. It is likely that i won't be the weeler and dealer that GJ is. But I do see logic in his ideals. I am in the process of getting rid of all of my the low end guitars I have. I have one guitar left to trade or sell. I am replacing them with guitars of superior quality. I have been at this a long time, ( 20 years or so)and i realize that some instruments hold value and some don't. Of course they all have intrinsic value to me, but I am not interested in buying instruments that are worth a fraction of what one pays a year later this can happen in the custom market. I have no problem buying custom guitars from "established" and "reputable" crafters. I also really like buying custom guitars that others have built at a fraction of the price they paid  Otherwise I would rather build the guitars myself (warmoth, edenhaus). As far as tone goes, i would have no problem putting the last two guitars up against any guitar produced in the last ten or so years. i believe they have superior tone in my hands, but then tone is a subjective thing. I do like you heratige though, and i believe yours will have awesome tone. A guitar always sounds better in the hands of a person that really cherishes it. That is why I don't buy instruments unless they "speak" to me either, if you know what i mean. I am at a point in my life were I can afford to buy higher quality guitars, and guitars i only dreamed of having earlier in my life. I have worked hard to be in that place, and still do. I don't begrudge anyone there choices in guitars, i just try to learn from there experiences.

Oh yes if it speaks to you, there's no question about it! I do think those gibsons are amazing, it's just the price that's freaking me out.

We're looking from different angles i think... You want the guitar to hold its re-sale value over time, and Gibsons really do that well. And I just want a guitar with my exact specs. My heritage will probably not go for more than 1100 used... but I'm not planning to sell it at all. This will be my lifelong partner.

Looking forward to some clips!!!

Guitars are funny. There was a historic L.P. that i tried in the last year, and it SUCKED tone. I mean it was flat, sounded like the strings had been on it for years, and it was a new guitar. I don't remember if it was chambered or a "real feel". I could never buy sight unseen, there are 2 many variables. I played it for around 5 min and couldn't get a acceptable tone out of it. If I were to have a custom guitar made for me it would be a scary thing. My expectations would be so high that, and i would always be trying to get "progress reports" on the guitar. Either I or the luthier would develop an ulcer.

I wish you the best of luck with your heratige. they are wonderful guitars. You will have to post clips also.

Re: Pulled the Trigger!!!

Congratulations! I think Gibson is making the best guitars right now that they have made in 40 years. Way to go! I have a LP 59RI Historic that I like better than the two real 58 & 59 Bursts I owned in the early 70's. I read an interview with Richard Betts and said his new Les Paul sounds better than his old one that he used for those classic Allman Brothers recordings. Lew

"IF" I do decide to switch pup, I may have to pick your brain. What do you have in yours?

Re: Pulled the Trigger!!!

Great choice! Life is too short to keep settling for a bunch of stuff that claims to be 'as good', but we all know which one's we keep, when comparing them side by side.
The Gibsons and Fenders. I like lemonburst, but if you're gonna buy a modern classic, you may as well get one that's hip looking like transblack. Plus, it doesn't show fingerprints as bad as something like a Black Std or Custom.

I agree with Lew about the 90's and early 2000's being probably the best era for Gibson, not to mention Fender and PRS. They are as good as they'll ever be, since their art is a dying art. It won't be too much longer before that good wood is too costly, the labour VERY costly, and we'll soon see the guitar market move toward disposeable cheapos, just like the consumer electronic world. In 30 years, the 'real' vintage stuff will be unattainable by anyone other than millionaires. The best stuff from this era will be considered the best, while the copycat stuff from this era will be lining the backs of closets. The guitar you bought will be your best humbucking guitar, in all likelihood. Along with your other 'best' guitars.....all you'll have to do is focus on your music and forget about the endless guitar hunt. You won't be able to find anything better than you already own.

Re: Pulled the Trigger!!!

Actually, I think you did a really good job of describing the tones. I'd agree with you anyway. That's a really pretty instrument. I don't think I'd ever use it onstage, myself, because I have a tendency to be rough on guitars and it'd be scratched beyond recognition within a month. Congrats on the purchase.
