Pup I would like to see SD make

It seems odd that SD doesn't make a custom bridge model in the APS-1 and APS-2. It seems all the other vintage Strat style pups have a hotter, custom bridge model. Why not the APS? I'm sure it would sell well. Yes there is the Twangbanger, which is nice, but it isn't truly like an APS. It's supposed to make a Strat sound a little more like a Tele.

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

I agree. I'd like to see strat bridge models in the 9-10k range as production models, in both A2 and A5 mags.
In the meantime, that means we can use the Antiquity 1 & 2 bridge, or the Custom Shop versions.

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

I would like to see SD make a dual Hot Rails to go in a humbucker slot, and maybe even a P90-styled Hot Rails.

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

I agree about having hotter singles in the normal production line. I just installed the
Antiquity Custom and 2 Antiquity Surfers in my #1 strat, and THAT is how a strat is supposed to sound. Making calibrated sets similar to that, in the normal production line, would be a great step to make.

Personally, I'd like to see the name changed from Custom Custom to C-2, then
introduce the Custom Line
Custom ceramic
C-2
C-3
C-4
C-5

This would allow players to dial in their guitar to a T.

BUT, MOST OF ALL, I'd like to see the large retailers like GC and Sam Ash pushed to include all the the good pickups in their display counters. It's pathetic to walk into the biggest chain stores in LA and see a JB, 59, and Hotrails sitting there, while the EMG displays and DiMarzio displays are fully stocked.

The Customs, the Ants, the Seths, the strat and tele pickups should ALL be there.

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

why do people only magnet swap the custom range?

sure i've heard of a few people doing an A2 JB, but it seems general discussion is focussed on magnet swaps with the custom series

I agree with your good points joneser!!! +1

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

I am still waiting for them to make a humbucker that is like a hotter PG. something like 11 or 12 ohms. There was a thread like this one a month or two ago and it seemed like everyone wanted one of these style buckers.

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

I'd like to see some more designs based on splitting to single coils. LOTS of H-S-H guitars out there with position 2 & 4 sounds - and generally not great ones. I have a Stag Mag, but that's only good in the neck (IMO). And I don't like the staggered poles; after all, how many people are putting this in a 7 1/2" radius strat with a wound 3rd anyway?

I'd like a humbucker with one coil of alnico 5 poles wound to sound like a strat and one coil with screws or slugs & a bar. I HAVE a custom wound puppy like this from SK and it rocks, but I don't get why this isn't a factory pup made by everyone.

+1 again. My local SD dealer have absolutely NO Duncans in his display. So when you order them, it takes months to arrive, and moreover, you pay full MSRP price. And of course, they immediatly say "but I have EMG right here..." YUK!

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

F*cking Hails Rails I love the name even! Did he ever find a Hot Rails Neck model he was looking for?

Re: Pup I would like to see SD make

i'd just like to see my lil 59 and JB Jr.'s pole pieces line up a little better :dunno:
they still sound pretty sweet, though

Yes I agree. If you go to Long and Mcquade here in canada, there is such a poor selection of pickups in store. They always "I'll have to order it for ya..."
Man I'm pretty sure if we had the Antiquity humbuckers here they would be like 170 CAD + tax a piece. Blackrose and Lew have great prices IMO.
