Pup option I'd pay for

Re: Pup option I'd pay for

Well, those who remember my Wild Wacky Weekend Winding experiment where I added -- however 3-Stooges-like -- about 1.0k to a Fender Fat 50's bridge pickup, you can do a lot of these tricks on your own. Just buy some coil wire from www.stewmac.com...

<BUMP>

Random bumps will continue to happen until the thread is deleted or SD starts making some medium output pups.

Here's a stupid question? To get a hotter pickup why don't you just use a booster pedal or an overdrive pedal with the drive all the way down, but the level up so your signal is boosted? Then you'd have the same characteristics of your favorite pickup but boosted.

Or is this not the same thing.

With a good boost pedal you will get the same type of effect, but I just want it a tad hotter on the very front end so I don't have to hit the pedal till I solo, simply because I want to keep the amount of pedals down, and the signal integrity up.

Bower, what I'm referring to are A2, and A5 PAF style buckers. In other words buckers that would have been left on the machine just a little too long.

I managed to pick up a 9.9K strat bridge pup from the The Guy Who Invented Fire. It fit the bill perfectly, not as hot as the custom, or hot, but not vintage. It also had the A2 mags which made it buttery smooth which was the other important part.
