pup suggestions for a Charvel 750xl

All right, I've got 3 Charvel 750xl's, all string thru. One has a pair of Distortions, another has a CC/APH combo in it. Both axes absolutely rule. They've got enough crossover tone that I can use either one for what I normally play, but are different enough that I can swap for a slightly different feel. My third one has the stock pickups that have got to go. I'm trying to think of something different for this one. I've got a pair of 59's in a couple of other guitars, so I've got the PAF thing covered. I've used a Jazz and Full Shred in the neck of one 750xl as well as the current pickups in the two I mentioned. The Jazz and Full Shred were just a little too bright for my taste. I love the Distortions for all out metal and shred. The CC/APH satisfies my lust for mids, and they can handle everything from bluesy grit to hard rock and metal. I need something a little different, but still able to handle the harder stuff. I can't stand the JB, tried the Custom in my 7 string RG and thought it was all right. I was thinking about a Custom 5 for the bridge, because I haven't tried that yet. The neck is going to kill me though, because I absolutely love the APH so far, and the Distortion is my favorite shred metal lead pickup. Is that enough to digest? I sure would hate to have to put another CC/Aph combo in this one. :smack:

Hey Travis! Before you change the pups in your one that's still stock, can you take a good detailed pic of the control cavity? I'm having ??'s with mine and would like to see a stock one.

As for suggestions, I had a DiMarzio Super Distortion/PAF combo that screamed in mine...

I had a pair of EMG 89's in one of my other 750xl's and I really didn't like it. They were extremely clear, but nowhere near warm enough.

I'll try to remember to get a pic tonight of the control cavity.

The main problem is, I just don't know what tone I want to get out of this one. My other 750xl's can handle a variety of styles, from blues/classic rock to shred/metal. I've got other guitars that are set up for blues/jazz, to rock, to metal. It'll be difficult to get something completely different with this one.

Pinto,

Here's a pic of the control cavity in the stock 750xl. Hope this helps.
