Pups for my LP Trad

Re: Pups for my LP Trad

Got my PG yest, got it in today!! Its different than how I always percieved that they would be. Pretty ballsy. I need to get the height dialed in. Im on the fence with loving it vs liking it. I definately like it alot and if I can get to the Loving it stage, Ill save up and put one in the neck. I cant quite decide whats not right, but I think I know the cause. Which brings me to this question.....
I dropped it into the stock gibson trad pro wiring. 500k pots, coil tap. What value of a cap is in these? Im thinking I need to change the cap. I cant verbalize what Im not digging right now at work, but I could when playing. Just something alil off.
Whatcha think??

Re: Pups for my LP Trad

How ballsy is it? I would love to hear it through a Splawn and some Greenbacks. :) It's not "rip your face off" bright is it?

Re: Pups for my LP Trad

NO!! That was one of my fears because Ive always heard of the high end sizzle and so on. And I dont like bright.. Now, if the high end of the pup is dialed up too high, it gets bright of course, but thats normal.. haha It does have highs aplenty to cut thru.

As far as ballsy, Its not kickin like a custom or something, but like a beefy PAF. usually vintagey pups are feeble to me..

Re: Pups for my LP Trad

Hmm. I may have a renewed interest in the PG. I also had that fear of them being too bright, which made me think more about going back to the Custom or trying out a Brobucker.

Re: Pups for my LP Trad

Ill put it this way.. I was thinking Custom too, but as of right now, Im pleased enough to give it some time..:cool2: From what Im feeling, it sounds very good, its just not as high output as Im used to, so I need to adapt..
