Purchasing LP sight unseen?

Re: Purchasing LP sight unseen?

Regardless of our yapping and flapping about Gibson quality, any Les Paul is a solid guitar. It just may not speak to you.

Ever notice the people flapping about Gibson quality are very rarely the people that own the guitar. When a Gibson (or any other piece or gear) bashing thread pops up and you ask if the person has ever owned the product you hear silence. Most Gibson owners I know typically end up buying another Gibson eventually.

I bought mine from Guitar Center sight unseen. Nevermind about all the mods and changes that I made........just look at the beautiful flames and colors. I had it delivered to the store just in case it wasn't up to snuff.

That flame is amazing. I also love the fret makers. What do you have in there for pickups?

Hey - I own a few and I am a lead basher. Like I have always said - bash where bash is due. For the price - EVERY guitar should be flawless. Many companies manage to do far better Wirth far less.

But yeah - love me some Les Paul! The OP, however, does not seem to.

The pickups are Seymour Duncan 59/JB. gold metal pickup surrounds, TonePros locking studs, brass tailpiece, roller bridge, Schaller gold pickup selector switch tip and strap locks.

Re: Purchasing LP sight unseen?

I know purchasing a guitar sight unseen is NOT the best way to go.... However, in this day and age of online commerce... If you were to purchase a Gibson LP online, who do you feel would provider you a better instrument and better service if there is an issue? Sweetwater, or....??? Thanks

I've purchased a couple Gibsons online and had pretty good luck. I snagged one of the original traditional pro Les Pauls when they were blowing them out for $1299 a few years back. That one was my number one until I got a used R7. My 335 was purchased online and was great once I swapped out the pair of Dirty Fingers pickups. I put a pair of Burstbucker Pros in it that came from my Explorer that was also purchased online. Nice guitar but I really haven't been able to bond with it. BB Pros were awful in it and the selector switch is actually wired backwards. I'll fix that when I put in pickups to sell it, I'm keeping the stuff that's in there now. That's the only significant flaw I've had on any of the Gibson products I've purchased in the last 5-6 years and every one of them has been an excellent guitar that plays well.
