Purple Marshall ministack--who has seen one?

Hi guys. I've had a Marshall Lead 15 ministack in Purple tolex for a few years that I bought off of ebay. I have seen a few others over the years on ebay as well. It's time for me to sell it as I've bought an amp and there's another I want to get, and I'm getting such crap about it on the ebay auction I'm thinking of cancelling the auction and just keeping the amp. For my own piece of mind who here knows a little about these? When I got mine one of the guys at the local GC remembered them, but that was years ago and he's not there anymore. Nobody at GC now remembers them. At the very least if someone here responds it could help shut up some of these downright nasty bastards who keep emailing me about this amp like I'm trying to put one over on someone. I could post a link to this thread just to show some responses. Thanks guys.

I've seen them, and always understood that they were released the same year as the Purple Jimi Hendrix stack around 10 years ago. I don't know the exact year, but it was around then.

I remember that too. I think i saw it in a MF catalog...

Occasionaly, MF has "limited or special edition" gear, that often means regular gear in a different color. They might be able to give you more info...

LMFAO, you rule man! :laugh2: Thanks Gear and Lex. I've always had this bad habit where even if I'm sure of myself, I start to wonder, are they right, is this a fake? It took me over an hour just to find anything about one on the internet, and that was only a chatroom reference like this one. Crazy. The internet used to be a wealth of information, but now it just seems to be a giant catalog.

I've never seen a purple one, nor knew that such a beast existed. I've seen a few red & white ones and have scattered catalogs going back to the late '80s that list tolex options as red, white or black. I've also seen a few Lead 12 mini's with the Silver Jubilee tolex.

Though...for a while it seems like Marshall had 'custom cover' option for ANY of their amps where you could get orange tolex or some other color for an upcharge but I can't ever remember seeing purple. I think the last price guide with the custom cover option was dated '91 or '92.

FWIW I did see a white Lead 12 stack at GC in Totowa, NJ at the end of November for $199. And this Lead 15 I'd say was an obvious recovering!

Joneser - Was Marshall making the Lead 15 about 10 years ago or are they slightly more recent?

I've definitely seen red and I'm almost positive I've seen white, but not purple. I see no reason to doubt that they made 'em in purple at some point though. They've definitely used purple tolex on some of their limited edition amps in the past. I have a regular boring black micro stack and I love it. It's lotsa fun!

The only time I've seen one was at West LA music sitting near a Purple Jimi Hendrix stack with cane front. That leads me to believe they made it in the same year. I'm guessing 95-98? Somewhere in there.

Have you seen the Zakk Wylde version out now? The changes are strictly cosmetic, but very cool looking IMO...
