Well, thanks for all the advice everyone. I really like the tone I get with a BBQ in an SG, so I was thinking of getting another one of those. Does anyone know how a Super Distortion compares to a BBQ?

I'm not fam w/ the BBQ (hear alot of good things about them though), but a Super D can be kind of "thin" sounding. Depends on the guitar. In a *good* Les Paul, me likey. Never tried one in a V/SG/Explorer, but compared to a 500T they generally have less low end and are a bit brighter.

To my ears, the 500T is kind of a combination of a Duncan Custom and Super Distortion. A bit compressed and bright like the Super D, but with some of the low end balls of the Custom.

Cool, that's good to know. I liked the 500T and the Evo, but don't scoop my mids anymore so I find them a little harsh when not chugging on the low e. The V is just a lot thinner sounding than I expected. Guess I'll just have to start experimenting! Let's see...Custom, BBQ, Iommi...

I dont think the Iommi will do it for you personally. I had one for a time and it is right in the middle of the road EQ wise. It is not bright or dark. Everything sounds boosted. Also, the iommi is not for a sloppy player at all! It is probally the most precise pickup I have ever played! Huge amounts of clarity!
