Push/pull pots

Hi all,

I've got a Squire strat that I can't leave alone (put a new switch in, a Hot rails at the bridge, hot stacks neck and middle), so now I want to put some new pots into it.

I was thinking of having a master volume, master tone, and a master EMG-SPC circuit in.

I want to put 2 push/pull pots in: one allowing me to turn the neck pickup on when I want it, so I can have neck and bridge pickups on together or all 3 pickups on together; and one allowing me to change the hot rails between series wiring and parallel wiring.

Is this all possible, bearing in mind I need to get a battery under the scratchplate for the EMG circuit?

Also, which kind of push/pull pots should I be getting? I was going to get a 500k audio taper pot to replace the volume control, should I be getting a linear taper pot for the tone control?

500k analog taper pots for both. Two push/pulls will eat up a lot of the space in the control area of the Strat but you can get battery compartments that install into the back of the guitar. Makes battery changes much easier.

You may have to (I am almost certain) route out a space under the pickguard or in the back of the guitar for the battery or battery box. THe push pull pots take up more space and so does the SPC. With the regular pots in a start it is already tight. The mods you are talking about are very possible. They can be done.

You may not have to do any routing to get it to fit. I'm in the process of wiring up an X-Bridge piezo pickup system in my Strat project, and it requires a battery. Everything fits without the need for any routing, you just need to be careful with how you arrange it all.
