Push/ Pull pots...

I'm still waiting for the correct set (long shaft) push/ pull pots to get here for my LP, but I have a question....

It's my '00 Classic, pots are mounted to a plate, and these are the volume pots that are being replaced to split the pair of PGs (which rock in this guitar BTW)...

What's the cleanest way to wire them up? They need two separate lugs wired to ground if I'm thinking correct... so how have some of you wired them up? The last one (which was splitting the CC in the bridge of my SG) I just wired one ground lug from the pot to the other on the DPDT block, and than had another lead out to the common ground. It looked like doo-doo, but it worked.

Is that what I'm stuck with or does someone have a cleaner way to do it? Pics would be great!

Thanks...

Re: Push/ Pull pots...

Long shaft push pull pots only come in spst and spst pots only have two terminals. Since you have the steel plate, which is grounded at one of the two plate terminals (where the output jack connects in the center of the plate) the pot chassis will be grounded simply by installing the pot. Simply solder a wire from one of the spst switch terminals to the pot chassis and solder the red/white wires to the the other spst terminal. A spst switch is a simple on/off switch so it doesn't matter which terminal you use for ground.

All true. You might have to bend the terminals on the push/pull pot flat to the back of the pot in order to screw your plastic control cover back on again...they stick up a little to high when used with that steel grounding plate.

But an advantage of the long shaft push/pull pot is that it has a 3/8" shaft...not the skinny shaft that doesn't quite fill the 3/8" hole.
