I have a tele with 2 Five-Two for Tele Pickups. the Neck pickup is RW/RP.

I want to use a Push/ pull Pot to switch from Series to Parellel.
How do i do this? i am sure its not complicated But i am a newbie.

Thank you

Re: Push pull put series/ Parellel. Help.

if those are single coil pickups (which i think they are)...then i dont think you can switch between series and parallel. Thats a humbucker thing. it refers to how the current travels through the coils.

in a bucker you have two coils. in series mode (regular) the current passes through one coil and then the other. In parallel it runs through both coils at once, or in parallel as it were.

so if you are using regular 5-2 tele pups, then im pretty sure you cant switch between series and parallel since you only have one coil.

However, you could wire it so that in the middle position, with both pups selected, you could change between series and parallel. Im not sure if this is what you meant though

Sorry i should have been more specific. I want the wiring so that the push/pull switch works so that the 2 pickups will change from series to parallel in the center position.

thank you

Easier way is to the "4-way Tele mod".
I'ts a replacement for the standard 3-way tele switch that goes neck - neck/bridge series - neck/bridge parallel - bridge.

GuitarTomca....Yes, 4Way Switch and you could add a DPDT Switch to get 1) Series, in & out of Phase and 2) Parallel, in & out of phase......More Tones...........

Re: Push pull put series/ Parellel. Help.

The most simple way to do this is with a 4-way switch... it's a very popular mod. A push/pull can be wired with a 3-way so that the neck is added to the bridge in series. Know that with the p/p in the series position that the three way will be Both in series in two positions and dead in the "neck" position. The 4-way is much simpler, IMO.

Either way, know that you have to disconnect the cover ground from the "-" lead on the pickup and run a third conductor that is just the cover ground.

Re: Push pull put series/ Parellel. Help.

i am going to use a 5 way switch to get the out of phase. all i want to do is use the push pull pot to connect the brige and neck in series. And when the Push/ pull pot is in the push position i want everything like normal. when the push/pull pot is in the pull Position i dont care even if the selector switch is bypassed.

Here's how I'd do it: (using a push-pull.)

The two lines that say pickup #1 and #2 just go the the normal places on the 3-way where you'ld put the pup hot wires. This way, the push-pull will always select series mode regardless of the position of the 3-way. No "dead" spots.

Duh. :smack:

4:56 AM Artie? You should be in bed!

Now, realizing that Artie will once again come in here and prove me wrong, I'm going to say that introducing a 5 way and wanting to do a phase reversal makes a lot more complicated. It's pretty simple with a second push pull and a three way, but you may not want two push pulls.
