Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

I think it sounds great. Not overly fuzzy, just right :)

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

that sounds great man! is that the axis with the 59's in it? i thought the recording quality was pretty good too

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

No not Axis...Wolfgang.
This time it is the Demon.
Gave me that old sound.
As for the recording, I placed the mic too far away, and it should have been closer to the cone.....oh well;)
Thanks man...it was fun to hear that odd Bassman doing crunchy stuff...
I need that Plexitop....grr hehe

pretty cool Rid.. nice classic tones.. I hear some tubes cooking in there :D

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Hehe yeah thanks, I am trying my best to choke out the remaining life in them;)
They need replacement badly:D
I am getting some RCA replicas for it, I hope it will give me the last I need from the amp.
Otherwise I may have to dig up a big Marshall.....hehe maybe I should nick VHoholics onetube wonderhead:D

sorry, wolfgang..my bad! demons in there huh? I could never get a tone like that outta mine..you lucky devil you ;)

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Heh the Demon is a great pickup, I tried it in the strat with good results, and back in the Wolfgang with equal good sounds....never had anything but fun with this pickup:)
And after hearing Marins Seth clip I finally got convinced that I should get one of those too...hehe I have too many humbuckers:D

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

I just couldn't get a nice focussed sound outta my demon...I liked the overal toneality of it (the eq curve) but it didn't quite have enough output for me..I couldn't get a tight enough sound! you've heard my playing style so you probably have an idea of where I'm commin' from =D

that's why I like the JB...similar sound, but with just right right amount of output so I can do cool muted stuff ;)

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Hehe play harder;)
Lol I am not disliking highoutput pickups, but somehow I loose bandwidth with those things, I have my Wolfgang pickups and I like the sound of them, but they do not breathe as much as my PAF style pickups, oh well it is still fun for extra screaming guitarsounds:D

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

I only played through the wolfie pups at the store, but they seemed really hot...they seemed to have a hell of alotta high end too...

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Uh but it is a great highend......screaming and singing.....I drove the poweramp on a 5150II all the way and then gave the preamp what it needed.....wow.
Awesome rocksound.
No buzz or chainsaw there, only fat screaming ballsy sounds...but loud;)

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Damn that is a hot tone!! Reminds me of Vai's Elephant Gun tone. Love to hear that amp up close!!

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Thanks Kevlar...lol er it is loud;)
It is a weird amp.....cannot wait until it gets retubed...would not surprise me if the overdriven tones will fly out of the window...hehe
I really had to smack the input on these clips....

I played them through a peavyXXX head....peavy makes some pretty good amps these days =D If I didn' thave my vetta I'd consider gettin' a XXX head..or even the new JSX...

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

he was using a protype on the G3 tour..which I happened to see..and he sounded FANTASTIC

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

Great, I saw him some 10 years ago with hair and with Stuart Hamm ....hehe it was awesome...lots of great sounds, the drummer used some triggereffetcs for all the crazy sounds from Surfing.
I saw the online thing from NAMM, it sounded good, and you heard him with a band where it also sounded good...guess it is a sweet amp then :)

Re: Pushing amp into more aggressive tone....

I saw that NAMM show movie too =D too much talking in that clip! lol...

but it's definetly well thought out from the sounds of it..I like how he was talking about the clean channel being clean but being voiced to accept pedals and whatnot...which shows it's versatile..and it also has a noise gate built right into the head...not something you find with alotta tube amps..

I'm looking forward to going to a music store, picking up an axis or a wolfie and plugging into one for an hour or two and not buying it...LOL
