Putting EMG's in hollow-bodies

what are the things that i should consider when putting active pickups in a hollow-bodied guitar? what are its pros and cons?

Re: Putting EMG's in hollow-bodies

I know that jazzman Ron Eschete has EMG's in his semi-hollow. He really likes the hi-fi sound of active pickups, and he also uses Evans amps, which are solid state. I tried his guitar and he's a great player, but the EMG's just didn't do it for me.

Battery location and ability to change said battery. I battery box will be slightly difficult to install, and you don't want to have a battery bouncing around in there. Not to mention having to fish it out of an F-Hole when you need to change it.

Other than that, should be no worries...

EMG's= no difference in tone whatsoever

Good way to be a total NOOB! You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone on this forum is getting about tired of these dumb EMG comments.

Yeah but a comment like that means he/she has no personal experience with it and is only re-hashing EMG lore that floats around the internet and absolutely isn't true. If you don't know what your talking about, don't post about it. It happens wayyy to much on here. I don't care what anyones post count is, if your going to post something that is completely untrue and total crap as that comment, you deserve to get called out on it.

I've toyed with the idea of getting on of those cheap ass 335 copys off of ebay and tossing emgs in it. I imagine it would sound fairly sterile, but better than the crap pickups they toss in those things anyways. Additionally, you won't need to worry about microphonic feedback at all.

The only concern I would have is about how and where to put the battery in a place where it a) won't bounce around and b) will be easy to access.
newbie question, but I feel that it's valid.
