There has been a long thread about the VTM. I just got one last Sat and thought I would toss up a quickie. I have clipped the bright cap and changed the presence cap value. I have the 'low 2' and the 'Hi 2' dip switches engaged ( I can choose between four hi and lo switches. I only have two engaged). Amp is dimed, with the pre gain on 5 or so. Weber Mass. I threw up a room mic and am useing a Traynor cab loaded with a late 60s CTS Alnico speaker. Gives it a more compressed, smoother top end and different mid character. I am just messing around, but you get the idea. Really dig the amp.

wow, great amp (& nice playing). Were you rolling the volume on your guitar forward or rolling it back for more/less gain? If so, sounds very responsive. nice. Blues to metal just by adjusting your guitar pups.

Weber Mass? lol

the hotplate probably cost more than the amp :)

great amp

Re: PV VTM 120 clip.... Quickie

Understandable that you dig it!!
Sounds like a real beast!
And for how much again???
Like that tone Kev!

Yeah, it is cool. I slightly more modern take when compared to my vintage stuff. 200.00 was the price of admission... Not quite Carlsbro cheap!! I think you got the better deal.

Thanks!!

I am just rolling the guitar volume, it cleans up well, definately a lot of range......

Re: PV VTM 120 clip.... Quickie

The sound is cool...but it has that usual peavy sound..not as airy as your vintage stuff..but it is a cool sound!
And for 200...doh:D

Rid, check out the new clip I just put up on this link. Mic posistion was the main culprit. ( Same link as above)

Re: PV VTM 120 clip.... Quickie

Ah that was an improvement...very clear now:)

Like my Laney, the VTM does not open up quite the same way as a non master amp, but I do like the flavor it brings. I figure a bias mod and it should be where I want it.

Re: PV VTM 120 clip.... Quickie

THANX FOR THE CLIPS MATE !

That thing sounds like a bloody monster - and the 60watter is only about $200, what a sweet bargain that is !!!

Re: PV VTM 120 clip.... Quickie

Word, no unnecessary shrieky highs. Great amp.

Hey thanks guys

I really dig the amp, at some point I will do a bias mod to it, should really open it up. I plan on gigging it soon, should get some interesting looks....
