Dave is an awsome guy!!! He builds great stuff at great prices!!! His service can not be beat either!!!! I bought pickup rings, truss rod cover, cavity covers from him. Click on my name and look at my public profile.

Re: Q: 7-string pickup rings?

I'm looking for straight up black replacement pick up rings for my 7 string w/ SD pickups. Can I get these from the people listed on this thread?
Any other ideas where to get them?

Re: Q: 7-string pickup rings?

Allparts.com, WD guitar parts, I know both of those have 7 string pickup rings in black, metallic black, chrome, possibly creme. The rings on my 7 string epiphone used to be creme until I started messing with them. What I'm going to do is pay a carpenter to make some out of maple. Is your guitar a carved top? If it's flat then you shouldn't have any problem unless you're looking for some sort of weird colour.

Good luck finding creme Epiphone rings for a 7 string. Didn't they only make that Epi 7 string Les Paul for 1 year?

Heck they still make Epi Les Pauls with creme ring for 6 strings and I had a bear of a time finding a dealer that would sell them to me. The guy wanted $15 a pair + $5 shipping... Plus I think they were taken off a guitar in his shop so they weren't even new... Needless to say I passed on the deal and I gave up looking for them.

Your best bet is emailing Dave (Budman). His email is located somewhere on this thread, and his website is www.fretsonthenet.com. Good luck!

Re: Q: 7-string pickup rings?

Those are probably made specifically for that custom guitar. Epi rings wont line up with much else that I have ever known, and you did say you needed Epiphone rings right? So that kind of narrows it down a bit unfortunately.

Actually Dave from Fretsonthenet.com can hook you up. He made me a set of creme rings for my Dean EVO 7 and they were arched. He does the best work on that kind of stuff so it's not cheap but the end result is perfection.

Yes I have spoke with Dave about my mini burst LP "lil 59'er". Did you have to make templates of the carved top? Also how close is the color of the rings to normal rings?

Re: Q: 7-string pickup rings?

Make them yourself

Just a follow up on the 7 string cream rings & which may help those with damaged or broken rings. I was able to take 2 sets & mitered them ( Craft store has a miter that the exact width of the rings) on top of one another spaced so the cut to the width needed ( Width needed plus 1/16" to allow for the razor saw cut plus melting {bonding}) I took the scraps & melted in acetone then used the color correct paste to bond the halves together in the miter. then did touch up with the paste where needed & filed with finger nail file & buffers . You can not see any seem. next i plan to age them. Wondering if i should shoot a light coat of ambered nytro or just use shoe polish & nicatine . Each ring took about 10 min to make.
