Re: Q on Epi Dot Deluxe Pups

This is a resurrected post from several months ago. I have obtained a PG for the bridge and an A2Pro for the neck but have yet to install them. Thanks for all the advice.
Make sure that you do yourself a favor and when you go to replace your pickups, replace all of the electronic parts with higher quality ones.
Those switches and pots are really pretty cheap. Better to do it all now, then having to go back in a second time.

Care to make any specific recommendations regarding electronics? This is my first foray into semi-hollows.

Well, I like to use CTS Pots, and switchcraft jacks. There is some debate on capacitors, but I've had good luck with the orange drops. Mojotone music has some of their Dijon caps that are pretty nice too.
As for wiring the whole sucker up, I for one don't have the skill or patience to wrestle with a 335 type of guitar and I took it to my tech. It's worth the extra $50 or so to know it was done right.

If your going to change out the pickups.... I would also change the pots & the switch. Even the jack. It really isn't much more work(not that I can do it). I know Blueman suggested to leave it, but once its all opened up its not really a big deal to change the pots, switch & jack. Change them to all high quality & away you go. Many people who do this will charge a stiff price to rewire a 335 style guitar, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Oh I have a 359 which comes with the 57 classics and she sounds awesome! They are really terrific sounding pickups.
