I haven't found it to be dark sounding at all. As a matter of fact, I've found the QP Tele to be just a hopped up version of the normal Tele pup that I had in it prior. I've got more of EVERYTHING. It's punchy, it twangs HARD and then has that beautiful singing tone that a Tele does.

Hello fellow Nebraska liver! Might be the difference in guitars, but I found with the 250K pot in there that it was a bit on the dark side and really it lacks mids. Im thinking that its the resonant peak being so low too. I put a 500K pot in it and it really livened it up, but Im still messing with it. I like a REALLY edgy pickup tho with allot of punch. I came from a Duncan Alnico II Pro tho and its deffinatly a louder version of that. Im going to mess with settings a bit tonight, but Im still going to order one of Zhangs Super Paul Bunyan Pickups. For the price I cant go wrong and He offeres a full money back guarantee/modification if I so choose. Really good guy so far-has been EXTREMELY helpfull through my PM's with him.
