Qs about 6L6 types

I don't have much experience with 6L6s because I don't change mine a lot, but I think the time has come and I need to know a few things before I do.

This is for a 6505+, I am considering the JJ6L6GC, Tung Sol 6L6GC STR, or SED Winged C 6L6. I know those are going to have different tonal responses so here is what I'm looking for.

For metal, I want firm bass, thick mids, clarity, durability, and very low noise. Something that is aggressive sounding but on the brighter side. I emphasize solid, tight, firm bass because my EarCandy BuzzBomb with Eminence Swamps is a bit loose and scooped sounding!

I hear a lot of 5150/6505 users like the JJs and this tube might work very well, but if JJ power tubes are anything like their pre tubes I may want to stay away. OTOH, I have two Tung Sol 12AX7s in V1 and V2 that sound fantastic and if their power tubes are similar I'll go with those. And I've never heard anything bad about the "legendary" SED =C=, but I'm just worried they might sound too vintage and not be too well suited for metal, or maybe not? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Ha, I don't like the JJ 12ax7 either, the ecc803 on the other hand...

I use SED in a M/B Mark III for metal, really good clarity and deep bass. The JJ are even deeper on the bottom end but they don't have the same clarity or sparkle that the SED have, and they break up sooner. Both are really good though, depends on what you're going for. No experience with the TS though.

Less deeper, firmer bottom is what I'm going for. With my cab I have so much bass available it's not even funny. SED ey?

I always thought the SED was pretty close to the old Sylvania STR series, which was a pretty stout tube. If you have the bucks, go for NOS/ANOS 7581A.
