Quarter Pound Tele in Bridge

Hello!

I recently put a Quarter Pound in my Tele's bridge, very fat and gainy monster!
I switched the pots for 500k so it's not too dark and maintains the highs.

I do think I would like the option for a brighter sound however. I am aiming to recreate the tone of Travis Bean pickups pretty closely, and they are quite high gain but also very bright still.

I like the bright and sparkly tones associated with midwest emo, but I gotta say I'm a sucker the the sharp and bright tone of bands like Shellac and such.

What changes could I do? I did keep the neck pickup stock, so perhaps maybe changing it to something that would compliment the QP in the bridge for a sound like this would be an option?

Noted that I am into a pretty versatile series of tones, so I think the fatter sound of the bridge pickup alone is still quite favorable for some songs I play.

1 meg pots might be an option. Also, an EQ pedal can be used to suck out some of the mids for parts of songs where the QP would be too thick.

1 meg pots are a fine idea, you can always roll the tone control back to darken things when you want that sound.

the neck pup will obviously change how the guitar sounds in the middle position, but in general neck pups are usually pretty dark

I ran mine with a 500K volume pot, no tone. Sounded fine. I bet it would sound more Tele-ish with a 1M volume and a no-load tone control.

When I had QP in my tele, I paired it with P-Rails neck with 500k pots. That combo gave me plethora of sounds. That said I wish I had the tapped version instead for brighter sound in the bridge.

On Travis Bean pickups : their design as I know it is very special, with rod magnets passing through a thick steel inductance plate... Not easy to reproduce IMHO (and would probably favor high pitched squealing if not fastened / dampened properly).
