Is one brighter than the other?
Which one sounds nicer when tapped?

Thanks Guys your help would be great, Dills.

The QP has a beefier sound, it all really depends what you're after. I've played a tapped version of either.

I haven't played the QP, but I do have a Hot Tapped in my MIJ 69 Thinline RI (paired with a nickel covered Pearly Gates at the neck).

When in full operation, it has enough output to keep up with most of my humbuckers. In fact, it feels like it hits the front end of my Bassman about as hard as the C5 I had in my Hamer for a while. It's big, has lots of bite to cut through, and has enough girth to play heavy rock with.

In tapped mode, it does a very good job of emulating intage style tele pickups. It doesn't sound quite as twangy as the Jerry Donahue in my MIJ Fernandez tele, but a big part of that could be the different body construction (solid ash vs. chambered mahogany).

If you're looking for a Tele lead pickup that can cover everything from Jim Compilong style twang to STP style rythm grind, the STL-2 Tapped wouldn't be too far from perfect.

If only SD made a noiseless version. ;)
