Question - 59b + Alnico 8 mag??

This has probably been discussed/beat to death, so apologies if that's the case, but has anyone here put an A8 mag in a 59 bridge pup? If so, what was the tonal result? How difficult is this? Finally, where's the best place to find mags of the right size for doing swaps such as this?

i don't know how it sounds, but i can offer this:

it's actually pretty cost effective to do magnet swaps, since they're only about $5-$8 per magnet and swapping them yourself is real easy once you know the process:

I bet it sounds very powerful, tight and clear. I've tried an A8 magnet with the JB coils and the Custom coils and that's the result I got from them. I think the A8 mag is a metal player's dream. Wish I had known about it 20 years ago.

It's very easy to do magnet swaps. If you can handle a screwdriver you can do one.

low output a8 pickups are my favorites, they've got good dynamics and clarity imparted by the paf-level wind and the output and eq curve of a8(tons of mids and very tight lows, a bit of bite on top).

I have a 59b with an alnico 8 in my Kramer Baretta.. Amazing!! My favorite pickup is a Custom8 but the 598b is similar. The it takes the 59 and gives it more nuggets.. The eq curve is more even. Less of the over powering bottom and smoother highs.

Thanks! Now to find an A8 mag (site linked in post above has fishy certificate warnings for me... don't trust it) and tackle the task of swapping 'em (never done before... nervous!!)
