Question About Celestion G12M Greenback

Re: Question About Celestion G12M Greenback

One of the best commercials of all time!

Oh, and I have absolutely no idea about the speaker.

Re: Question About Celestion G12M Greenback

I'm just looking for an improvement in the overall tone, but I want to make sure there won't be any issues with putting a 25w speaker into a 20w amp.

Shouldn't be a problem. I have been running a 50 watt amp, set to 25 watts, through a single Greenback at gig volumes quite a bit recently. No problems encountered.

Yeah, I think you will be ok on wattage.

Tonally, most likely an improvement over a cheap oem speaker, but it may or may not suit your needs.

Forward mids with TONS of midrange presence. Not much treble or bass and it's inneficient (quiet)... all depends on what you've got in there now.

Re: Question About Celestion G12M Greenback

lots of upper mids, a warm top end and not a ton of bottom. a 1x12 combo can sound a little off by itself but i run a 12w amp with a g12m live often and it sounds great in a mix. they are not overly efficient, mine is 97db vs 100 db for a vintage 30 or g12h, but it might be more efficient than the stock speaker in your amp.

i love the g12h as well. its got more bottom, a more aggressive top end, and its louder. probably sounds better when playing alone but is just different in a band mix.

Re: Question About Celestion G12M Greenback

Already bought a G12M. I'll make due with it. :cool2:
You might like the G12M. It will give your amp a warmer sound and if you play in a band, you'll see how yet nicely it cuts through the mix.
The speakers are matter of personal taste. I like the Greenbacks. 25W is cool for your 20W head.
