Question about cracks around the neckjoint of a Tokai Love Rock

Hey bros,

I have my brother-in-laws Tokai Love Rock over at my place, giving it a setup and swapping the pickups for him. Its a MIJ, very nice guitar, sound great, and is quite rare.. The only one I have ever seen in white, with Les Paul Standard spec.

I noticed it has some hairline cracks around the neck joint. In the cutaway side, they go all the way up to the fretboard binding. The tuning is rock solid, and it doesent feel "weak" so to speak, when playing.

My question, is if this is something for him to worry about? I have never experienced it on another Les Paul before, so figured I would ask. Its cold outside, so I figure it may be the paint that cracked, but I wanted to ask, to be sure.

I have a White MIJ Tokai Love Rock too and mine has the same cracks in the same place too. They don't appear to be structural looking at your pics so hopefully it's just finish cracking.

Looks like finish cracks to me... basically rendering the guitar useless.

Tell you what. I'll send you a box and case to pack it up in and pay to have it shipped to my house for proper burial.

EDIT: Nevermind. You live in ****ing Denmark.

Looks like just a little checking to me. If you're worried about it, just sparingly flow low viscosity super glue into the crack and let it completely dry for 10 minutes.

With a name like 'Love Rock' what could go wrong? Thats some MOJO for sure!

Ive never even seen one but everything Ive read about them it seems like owners really love them.

Looks to me like it's on a seam. Depending on how involved your brother wants to get with it, could be a candidate for a strip down, fix the cracks, and put a new finish on it.

My white gibby lp has the same cracks.
