Question about custom 5 code number.

Hello, i'm new here.
I just bought a brand new Custom 5 that i have installed yesterday into my SG.
I noticed that the code printed behind the pickup start with SH-11 instead of SH-14.
Is normal for this kind of humbucker? The box was sealed.

Re: Question about custom 5 code number.

Welcome!! Basically SH-11 and SH-14 are the same pick-up. With a different magnet in them. The custom custom magnet is A2, the custom 5 one is A5. You can do a simple check to verify which magnet is in it. Unscrew the pickup from the guitar and remove part of the tape in order to gain access to the magnet. SD marks the magnet with a code color. If the side towards the slugs is black, you have a A5 and consequently a SH-14. Or if you have a gauss meter you can measure the magnetic field (A5>A2). How does it sound? Bright and mid scooped?
Anyway ask to seymour duncan customer service.

Hmmm, this shouldn't have happened. Either the sticker is wrong, or the pickup is in the wrong box. If you'd like to check, as was suggested, go ahead. If you indeed have the wrong pickup, you can return it, or swap out the magnet on your own.
