question about Framus 2x12 cab

I have a Marshall jcm900 2500 Hi Gain Master Volume 50 watt amp, and I was wondering whether this Framus can handle my amp, it's the 212 CS cab on the bottom of this page: http://www.framus.de/modules/produkte/produkte.php?type=AMPS&title=Amps&katID=00000000126

I have read that it was designed for Carlos Santana, so I guess it's good, but people, feel welcome to chime in about Framus.

If you don't wanna look at the site here is the specs for the Framus cab:

2X12 Celestion Vintage 30's
17mm plywood housing
100 Watts
8 Ohm

I know nothing about this stuff, so please help, I do not want to blow the speakers if I buy the cab.

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

isnt the v30 60W??

that would make the cab 120W and plenty enough for your 900

i am building a 2x12 with v30's, but it's not plywood. it's an inch of solid beech. i get the speakers on tuesday, but i dont have a way of testing it at the moment as i dont have a head over here =/

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

Your amp is 100W right? The cab should be able to take upto 120W then. Unless...Well I heard some time ago Framus was short of V30s so they stuck G12H-30 speakers in their cabs. Now dutch players I know usually check on that when buying a Framus cab. Not necessirally to check if they got ripped off though, but to check if they got lucky. Those speakers kick ass!

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

Hm,, I don't know about their wattage, I just know that it says 100 watt on the site, and that the amp it's deisgned for it a 30w class A amp. I just don't get how it can be 100 watt, since I've never heard of 50 watt v30's.

No, it's a 50 watt head, can be switched to 25 watts though, but I reckon the full 50 watts will sound best. Anyway, in the internetshop I looked it, it says V30's. So I trust it to be V30's, or else it'll be false advertising.

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

Well, I guess I should be able to play it then without any problems. I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't have problems if I bought it.

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

I'm sure you're safe either way bro, the peak certainly won't be less than 60W. Look at it this way, there isn't a Marshall head (except for the Major) that has more than 100W (at least none I know of). Still the only cabs they make with a peak of 100W are the greenback loaded 4x12s, all the others have way more upto 300W.

:bigthumb: Yes I did, with no regrets yet :beerchug:
I'll post all about it once I get new tubes for my new monster amp(s?)

EDIT: Oh and it's Neeradj :yell: :laugh2:

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

Good.. Do you guys have any experience with Framus stuff? My impression is they mostly make high end stuff, but this cab is friggin cheap, and it's my 2nd choice for a cab.

The reason why it's 2nd choice is because yesterday I found a Marshall 1936 for sale, for 162 bucks! Of course it was used, but only for studio recording, and nothing else. The producer is one of Denmark's most known rock/metal producers, so I trust that it's in good condition when he says it is, I hope he hasn't sold it yet though, or else I'll go for this Framus cab. And besides, then I'll get to meet a good producer, and get a cab that many professional artists have used.

Re: question about Framus 2x12 cab

That's what I planned, but then I have the Framus as a choice if I can't get it, I could imagine that it's already sold though, because at that price it would be insane not to buy it.
