I own a USA soloist and an import dinky. The soloist has a slightly thicker neck than the dinky and is just a bit heaver [wieght wise] I love both of the guitars though, the dinky seems to have a little quicker attack, but the stock pickups i didn't like. I put a jb in the bridge , and next week ill replace the neck with a hot rails. any questions just as me

You're gonna love that JB in there I think. If you have a humbucker in the neck, the Jazz will kick butt when you get a chance. Seymour wasn't BS'ing with the JB/Jazz combo.

I have the JB/ JAZZ combo in my LP and it really sounds awesome. But I think if i get a Jackson, I MIGHT put a set of EMG's in it. utahere: :wall:

That was a problem of the korean Performers, the earlier Japanese Performers didn´t have those symptoms. The problem has since been alleviated (read: there are no performers anymore )

Yes ... I own/owned a Korean Performer .... It's now a closet lurker

Depending on the model and hardware it's fairly light. Something stuck me as fairly odd. I find Soloists feel heavier to me than most Dinky's I've played. However I think that can't be possible, but others will comment.

I did roadie work for a frind of mine back in the day, and his Dinky (H/H, Reverse) was fairly lighter than his MIM Strat.

Soloists usually are slightly heavier than a Dinky. This is because they're neck-thru with a maple center block, and maple is significantly heavier than Alder or Pople which Dinky bodies are made from.

My custom Jackson has a Hard Ash body and a Hard Maple neck and it still feels relatively light. Not heavy at all.
I am beginning to think they cheated me and used Swamp Ash for the body instead of Hard Ash.

You can differentiate between Hard Ash and Swamp Ash pretty easily based on tone. Hard Ash has very tight bass response and is extremely bright. Swamp Ash is a little more mid-rangy and has soft, smooth highs.

The dinky is 7/8 the size of the Soloist, at least that's what Zerb told me, and he is MY authoritaaah on Jacksons. I'm pretty sure that all soloists are neck-thru and the Dinkys are bolts.

I think as to what is better, that is a question of preference. I like both mine sorta the same depending on my mood.

I have one of each. The MIJ dinky has a little more "snap" to it and a little brighter tone with the Rosewood. The USA Soloist (with ebony) has great sustain and is a bit warmer, the frets are smoother and it feels real real solid. Also, the finish is absolutely fantastic.

Not so sure about the size thing as I also have one of each and they both have identical cases. Ebony is actually brighter in tone than rosewood. It's the neck-thru design that makes the Soloist warmer and that is why they have the ebony board, to even thing out a bit. The bolt neck on the Dinky does add some spank and snap.

How does the Ibanez S-series compare with the Jackson DKMGT? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just really curious and i want the best guitar for the money.

You need to hit the street and shop around. Internet message board discussion can only get you so far. You need to figure out what YOU like best.
