Question About Push/Pull Splitting

This will sound like a dumb question but here goes! I'm going to wire up my JB bridge, and a Jazz neck for coil split via push/pull pots. Should I use the volume, or tone knobs for the push/pull split? Or does it even matter?

Re: Question About Push/Pull Splitting

I think it's just preference... I have separate splits (neck on volume, bridge on tone)

But, if you're going for just one - I'd prefer to use the volume, assuming it's closer. Then again thats me assuming you have a strat :laugh2:

Re: Question About Push/Pull Splitting

Use the tone control. Most push/pull pots are built on mini-pots that often have lousy tapers. The tone control is much more forgiving of taper than the volume control.

Re: Question About Push/Pull Splitting

Not every guitar offers the option of tone, or volume, tho.
My Kamikaze only has one volume control, which is push/pull for pup selection as well.
Of course, in this guitar, the taper doesn't matter, because you just keep the volume dimed, unless you're muting. :laugh2:

Re: Question About Push/Pull Splitting

Sorry. I have an Epi LP with two volume two tone. I think I'm going to just use the tones from what I'm hearing here.
