question on floyds

hi guys, would anybody know how long the spring block at the bottem of a floyd rose original bridge measures, i want to put it in a recessed route, mine is 40mm, it cant be put in that route, but i am going to have a professinal shave off a few mm, how much should i shave off.
p.s i called the floyd rose headquarters, they said it is fine to shave it.

That's not something anyone can easily answer without having the guitar and a ruler sitting in front of them.

Original and schaller floyd blocks have the length stamped on them. They´re available (from the factory, some manufacturers modify them further) in 42mm length for non recessed use (or thick archtops) and 32mm for recessed use.

In your case: have it shaved down to 32-35mm.
