Questions about pickups...magnets, & other poop.

How can I tell a ceramic from a alnico? Do ceramics "break" "shatter" splinter? or do they all do that? Are these two the only pickup mags in use or are there others?

Removing them from the p/u...easy? what if they are stuck? I ask cuz I have a bunch of old ones and I want to expiriment. the first one I tried to pull the mag on, it splintered and wouldnt come out.

??????? Fill me in on the magnet poop!

I have to ask a possibly dumb question . . . you did loosen the four screws that clamp the magnet between the bobbins and base plate, right?

The only other magnet material I know of, is a few companies are experimenting with Neodymium magnets.
