Quick ? About Gibson Nuts

I have a 2014 SG Jr. I'm trying to get a new nut for it, preferably Tusq, because I've heard good things about Tusq nuts. Are all Gibson nuts standard? How can I find the right nut for my guitar?
Also, any recommendation on nut brands or materials would be greatly appreciated. No tremolo on this Gibson : )

Re: Quick ? About Gibson Nuts

Be aware that 2013 and 2014 models are notorious for having the nuts glued in solid such that they have to be cut out. It's not all of them because I've seen reports of easy removal too, but if you have one that is glued in solid, make sure you are up to the task. That aside, no matter what you buy, you have to do some work. It's not going to drop in. If you want to buy a pre-slotted Tusq (or Tusq XL) nut, measure your E-e string spacing at the nut and go to the graphtech website and find one with the same string spacing and check the other dimensions as well. The website has directions on what all to measure. I dont know if this is your first attempt at replacing one but personally, I wouldn't want a 2013 or 2014 Gibson to be my first patient. Again, it's a good chance that it's glued in solid. May want to consider taking it to a local tech or luthier (if there is a decent one locally).

And, welcome to the forum.

They are not all the same, but graphtech has a table that helps.

Re: Quick ? About Gibson Nuts

Nubone makes those as well
I believe that they a re 5/16s or 6mm by 3/8s or 9mm by 43 mm I'm not sure what the fraction on that is

The epiphone but is 1/4 inch rather than 5/16 thick

The width and height are the same
The thickness is a bit different

As they said bound fretboard has a slightly smaller E to e spacing

I believe the unbound is 37mm (mine is)
And bound is 35mm (again mine is)

I just replaced a nut on a 2004 Les Paul and it was the epoxied in Corian nut, so never assume it was just a couple years. If you have never replaced a nut before, take it to a proper tech. It is not just a simple replacement thing.

Re: Quick ? About Gibson Nuts

Thank y'all for the responses!! This will definitely be going in the shop. I've tried my hand at luthier work on my own guitars and after that, I'm not ashamed to pay someone else to do it for me, haha. I appreciate all the input!
