Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

Is there an easy way to tell a US-made Hamer from an import model if you are just looking at a photo online? Or do you have to see it in person to know for certain?

Re: Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

every usa hamer ive seen has "hamer usa" on the headstock

Yup

There "may" be some instances where it doesn't apply, but AFAIK that's the dealio...

Re: Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

So a small frontal photo on the Internet isn't enough to tell for sure?

Re: Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

The ones I've seen state it pretty clearly. So either get better pics or pass on it.

Re: Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

I third the better pic or pass motion! Thread adjourned!

Can I get in on this too guys?!?! :D

Yeah, IN GENERAL if the only pictorial evidence that you get on the guitar's (or indeed any item's for sale) pedigree is either too small, too out of focus or otherwise deliberate in its' lack of detail then chances are the seller has something to hide or at the very least, does not wish to disclose right off the bat in the hopes that the potential buyer won't ask.

Only USA Hamers have a small usa after the name Hamer. There are no USA Hamers without it.

Like this.

Re: Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

Thanks, everyone. I just wondered because they pop up on my local craigslist with usually one photo and not much info. Now I know the only question I need to ask before I go driving to Deliverance country chasing one.

Re: Quick easy way to tell US Hamers from imports?

I'd ask for a photo of the front and back of the headstock. Apart from the USA on the front in small text the serial no is stamped /indented into to the back of the headstock on any USA models I've seen.

If the seller is genuine and wants to sell, that shouldn't be a problem before you make a long (?) drive to check a guitar out.
