quick question about tube amps

Re: quick question about tube amps

Good rule of thumb, if you are walking away for over an hour, turn it off. Standby was IMO best used by gigging musicians to keep Amps warmed up between sets. I've left many Amps on standby by mistake for a week or two. No harm.

THIS. :bigok:

Also, for obvious reasons, it's a good idea to have spares on hand.

Spare tubes, and some kind of backup in case your amp just completely ****s the bed. I learned about the iRig four or five years ago when I was mixing a local band and the guitar player came up to me at the desk and plunked his wireless receiver and iPhone on the table all like here you go dude... plug this into my channel. He'd blown his amp up that morning. It wasn't great tone but it got him through the show. Since then I've picked up an iPad and I bring it to gigs as my backup rig.

I always bring a FlyRig5 with me, so I am covered no matter what. You only need an amp to die at a show 100 miles away ONCE to not have a backup solution. Man, that was awful.
