Quick Questions on the EVH (78) pickup.

What are the specs on this pickup?

I know it's an overwound Alnico II PAF type, but what is the resistance? Also, are the coils mismatched?

Which neck humbucker would best compliment this pickup?

One last thing: Are there any signs that this pickup will become a production model in the near future? :naughty:

it uses 42 wire and has a average resistance of 8.7K
if you get it trem spaced it will read at about 9.2K
as far as a neck pup the custom shop makes a neck EVH model
but i think a alnico II pro or a 59n will do just fine

Mine measures 9.2k. As far as a good match, any of the alnico 2 PAF-style humbuckers will work well in the neck.

About the only way I see that happening is if the Custom Shop gets bombarded with orders for it or if the forum really really pushes hard for it to become production.

It'd be really cool if it did become a production model, as it would make it a lot easier getting hold of one in the UK. I'd want to put one in my fender strat but I don't want to change the pickguard or cut a hole in it, I'd want it to be like the other production models that fit in strat holes. Is there any way the custom shop would be able to do this for the same price?

The DC's mentioned here are in line. Theodie uses his with an Alnico II pro and loves it...I would use either an AIIPro or a PG. As for as I know the coils are matched, And as for as it being made a standard model...doubtful. The last time I talked with MJ she told me that she gets at least an order a day for a EVH/78...that's alot!

I must've caught her on a busy day. She said mine was the sixth EVH order that day.

I had her wind a matched neck pickup.

The coils on mine are even resistance. Mine is a trembucker and measures 8.7K. I use the aph neck with mine and I like them alot.
