quick review of the Zoom G9

Hello all,

I was at Sam Ash today to try out the Zoom G9 effects processor for the 2nd time. I have heard awesome clips on youtube.com/narshadda and read good reviews on harmony central (wih a HUGE grain of salt). I Grabbed 3 different guitars to test this baby out with
(ibanez artcore semi hollow, Jackson DK2, PRS SE)
The Zoom was plugged into the clean channel of a hartake practice amp
(POS I tried the amp solo before the test...total pos)
I first tried the Jackson thru the G9, scrolled through the prsets and was amazed at the feel and sound of the patches. Real organic cleans and the heavy/dist tones where alive and breathing (check out the youtube vids)
of course the presets where a little outdone so I went into manual mode and started tweaking, the amps and efx are very (VERY) usable. I plugged in the Ibanez Artcore semi hollow and called up a Bassman amp with a little verb and was able to get a great jazz tone. And finally I made the baby screm with the PRS SE, the recto model sounds better and more open than a real recto and I was pulling out some old riffs of mine that are on my soundclick site. The pedal seems sturdy, easy to use, versitile, and sonicly usable.
You also get Cubase LE to start recording using the USB out!!

on a scale of 1 to 5 picks, the zoom G9 rates:

construction = 3 1/2 picks (pedals seem sturdy but not a tank)
reliability = n/a (demo'd in store)
variety/options = 4 picks
sounds = 4 picks
value = 4 1/2 picks
