Quick volume pot question

I have an explorer I've been using for years. I put a jb in the bridge and kept the stock Gibson neck. I started to dislike it after using a different guitar consistently for a while and decided to put a distortion in the neck. Here is my question. Its a V,V,T setup and I don't want to change the bridge at all but the 300k in the neck is a little dark. Can I change just the volume pot to get where I want without affecting the bridge pup? This will be the first time I've done different values in the same guitar and I want to make sure it's right. Thanks in advance.

Re: Quick volume pot question

The neck volume pot does not affect the bridge pickup. A 500k pot should brighten the pickup, and a 1M pot even more so.

Re: Quick volume pot question

The neck volume pot shouldn't affect the bridge pickup when only the bridge pickup is selected by the 3-way switch, but I think it'll affect the tone in the middle position, when both the neck and bridge pickups are selected. I think it depends on how the volume pots are wired, but my guess is that the bridge pickup may get brighter when both pickups are selected. That's my guess-- I've never tried this myself.

Re: Quick volume pot question

The thing I love most about VVT or VTT setups is, the ability to change to master V/T, then use that "other" hole for a switch. The sky's the limit.

Just my 2-cents worth.

...I like to add switchable 50's mod/Modern tone circuit...nice to have both options on some guitars...
