Quick Weber Mass Lite Question

Hey guys,

A used Weber Mass Lite (100w) came up used for a decent price and was thinking of grabbing it for my JCM800 as in many situations (even live) I don't get to put it past 3, and I'm just a little confused about the explanation on the website:
___________________________________________________________

"MASS Lite with 50 or 100 watt rating. 8 ohms. May be used on 4, 8, and 16 ohm amplifiers. Includes MASS bypass, line out, extra output jack, and range switch."
___________________________________________________________

So as I understand it, I can put my amp on whatever I want to run it at and it will be seen as an 8ohm load. But for connecting the cabs, are BOTH speaker outputs 8ohms? Or is the TOTAL 8ohms? (meaning using 2 4 ohm cabs). I believe its the first one but I want to just make sure before dropping some cash.

Here's my main setup for this amp:

'83 JCM 800 2204 (4 and 8 ohm)
'85 1960B cab (8 ohm)
Home-built 2x12 (8 ohm)
90's 1960B cab (4/16 ohm mono, 8 stereo)

At rehearsals I usually run the amp at 4 ohm and through the first 2 cabs, live is usually brought down to the 4x12 running the amp at 8ohms. So really what I want to know is:

-If I can continue doing this and hooking up the two or one cabs as normal (keeping my amp on 8 ohm all the time) AND
-If I can run this alone with my other 4x12 (and which input do I use?)

And for those with any experience on this product:

-What exactly does the 'range' switch do?
-Any other thoughts on the product/ subject?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Quick Weber Mass Lite Question

Or is the TOTAL 8ohms? (meaning using 2 4 ohm cabs).

If you use two 4 ohm cabs the total impedence will be 2 ohms not 8. Speaker outputs are in parallel.

I have the Mass lite 100 and it works great. Yes you can continue using your setup the same. The "range switch" sets the output range. Very important to follow the setup instructions or it will be difficult to get it sounding good.

Re: Quick Weber Mass Lite Question

Ahh right, shows how useful editing can be in posts! I was thinking 'run my amp in 4'....whatever, doesn't matter as you answered my question anyway hah

Thanks for your reply, I also got a reply from Weber within 24h which definitely helps the buying decision process. I will also pay special attention to the setup instructions!

Thanks again
