Rack EQ

Does anyone know of a company that makes 10 band rack EQs? Like the ones the guys from Slayer are using. I know those are bosses but I can only find them on Ebay sometimes and I don't want anything used. So... Where do I look first?

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Rack EQ

There is a company making digital/programmable EQs and I had my eye on one for quite awhile before I decided another processor in my rack was overkill. Other than the DBx stuff which is nice I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Re: Rack EQ

If it has to be rackmount there are countless options for you, from $100 to the thousands made for studio, live performance, and home audio applications, and all would suit you well. If you are ok with a floor-based or table-top unit, they aren't as expensive, and they sound cool. I have the Boss EQ-20, which is a 10-band graphic EQ with memory banks. It goes for about $150, and it is a lot of fun. The MXR 10-band EQ is a little less expensive, but sounds great also. For something unique, parametric EQs are a lot of fun to have. I have an old Boss parametric EQ pedal for bass, and it rocks. With that thing, I can fine-tune my sound for anything, or I can stretch my tone in all kinds of ridiculous ways.

Re: Rack EQ

I was just wondering. The only ones I can find are Dual 15 bands or the 31 band. I really just want a 1/2 rack 10 band, but I don't want to go searching for a used one. I wish boss still made theirs. I don't need one, but I want one. If I can't find one I'm just going to get the MXR 10 band eq.

Re: Rack EQ

Look for a half-rack parametric EQ, if you'r interested. It works just the same, but you use a bunch of knobs instead of sliders, and it gives more precise ability to focus on frequencies. There are a bunch of eBay, and Carl Martin makes a pedal version. Most give really wide frequency control (20Hz-20kHz), which is about the range of CD sound production and the approximate range of human hearing. My parametric EQ covers 25Hz to 16k, and my guitar amp doesn't even reproduce the extremes, but my DJ setup does. But there are a lot of cool options, and all can be used as filters, bossters, acoustic simulators, etc.
