Rack switcher system?

Hey,

i have been having this rack fetish lately, and I am thinking of the Cons/Pros of having one.

I have 3 drive pedal, 1 delay and a wah.

Is it possible to get a Rack switch system so I can change between these pedals using a midi board? (Wah will be right next to me though).

I would like to also be able to turn my signal completely off, and route it to a rack tuner so I can tune up without being heard.

Is this possible?

I heard of a Axess Electronics system, but do they ship to denmark?

And are there anything that I should consider doing this?

And the very last, other cheapish system that dont cost 1000bucks?

Thanks mates.

See ya.

Re: Rack switcher system?

Axess will ship to Denmark once all their production is RoHS compliant. What you're describing is the Axess GRX4. I use two of them in my rack, one just for pedals, and these things work great. I use a cheap RFX MidiBuddy on my pedalboard to call up my presets.

Re: Rack switcher system?

sorry, but the Behringer is the best sub- $800 midi pedal out there. There are other midi pedals besides Behringer, but they are limited mostly to 1 channel with not much more than program changes.

As far as a rack switcher, the discontinued Rockman Midi Octopus, or the VoodooLabs GCX Switicher, or possibly the Sounds Sculpture switchblade. But honestly, with so few pedals, why bother? For such a small setup, you are making more work for yourself with putting them in a rack, unless you plan on getting more rack stuff. It really isn't cost effective for a rack system unless you are controlling a lot more equipment.

Re: Rack switcher system?

Thats the problem, I just think it rocks when someone has a rack, but well see, but the Axess system is what I should get?

Re: Rack switcher system?

honestly, if you were going to spend that kind of $ on a controller, like the Axess, the Rocktron All Acess can do a lot more.
Yeah, it does rock when someone has a rack (and can spend the time to make it sound good), but remember people get racks because no single device does what they want, and it is a safe place to keep all of the gear. What they don't tell you is that they are heavy & take days to program correctly (make sure you understand the ins and outs of MIDI and how your gear uses it).
If you had 20 pedals, and need different settings on every pedal for every song, it would be worth it to minimize everything and get a rack, with a rack FX processor to take care of all of that.

Re: Rack switcher system?

For FX processors, is the Rocktron Xpression or TC Electronic G-Sharp the best? Or the Korg AX3000G

no, they are not the best (you might have to look in the $10k range for that, and even then it is subjective).

The G Sharp looks cool, but I haven't heard it. Generally, TC Electronics makes great sounding stuff- Im sure it is impressive. Main thing, is, decide your budget, and then figure out what effects/preamps/whatever you want.
Do you want distortion? Echo/delay/reverb/chorus/flanger? Amplifier modeling? A box that does it all?

Re: Rack switcher system?

Echo I dont use that much but I have a good one in the amp.

I have a Delayla, but I am a bit afraid of using it in the long run if it craps out on me.

Chorus I would to have, same with phaser, flanger and perhaps a envelope filter? But that would be a plus.
