Radial BIG shot ABY switcher Update

Reckless Abandon

I am giving an update as promised. This thing is great! I am able to switch between 2 marshalls and play them both together without any added noise. Thing seems to be built well. Leds would help but the manual explains that the box would be bigger and costlier if they did that. I did not notice much signal loss at all when using both amps. I recomend this.

I've used one as well and found the same thing. It works great as an amp switcher/combiner.

dont leds cost like a dollar and attach to the pcb anyway?

Re: Radial BIG shot ABY switcher Update

I believe if you want to keep the signal path clear you have to do special switching when using a led or you dont have a "true bypass", which is where the bigger box and more money part comes in.

I, too, have one of these. It works and sounds great. The ojnly problem I have with it is this:

I have it velcro'ed to my pedalboard. The bottom is held on with 4 hex screws. From time to time, when I open my pedalboard after transport, the top of the box has become disengaged from the bottom. he screws are still tight but have actually pulled THROUGH the holes in the bottom section, screw heads and all. When I push it back together, there's a little "snap", indicating to me that it's possibly designed this way, to allow for quicker servicing? But there's no battery so there's no reason the end user would need quick access.

BTW, this happened the very first time I transported the board, when the pedal was brand new, and I'm extremely gentle with my stuff, it had not been banged around. I dunno, maybe it's a flaw with my particular unit.

i wnat to try one of these units... my current switcher allows 2 heads into a single cab.... but i'd like a quality amp switcher to switch between combos..
