Rain - final

Re: Rain - final

Your ears are killer, it sounds professionally produced. This is the kind of stuff where a record company signs you & just releases the demo.

Thanks again, I try. Just for everyones information the set up is:
Toneport and SM57 for the vocals, Toneport Achtung patch and Dean Hardtail for the guitars. The track was mixed in Logic with UAD and Waves plugins. I mentioned the synths in my other post and the drums are from NI Battery but I did a lot of tweaking of samples.

It really does sound professional. Good tune.
Vocals sound awesome.

Needs more guitars.

Thank you, you can't have too many guitars :). I was thinking of maybe splitting out some parts and let people do some remixing, like adding guitars and stuff. I'll think about it as I've done this before then put it out on iTunes.

Great stuff.
Not what I listen to nowadays, but I would put it right up there for all the Paradise Lost fans. Great structure and dynamics.

Re: Rain - final

Hey guys! Forgot all about this. :) Thanks for all the kind words I appreciate them a lot.

Okay I'll share production tips. I guess I'll list the gear involved which is modest and the tracks.

First there are 25 tracks total, 7 for the drums and bass, 7 keyboard tracks, 3 guitar tracks, 6 vocal tracks (3 main vocals 3 effected fills) and a couple of effect type tracks. The song has 3 bass sounds all playing the same F# C# B D all the way through the song - 2 parts run all the way through and one comes in the chorus sections only. The vocals are doubled and the doubled vocal has a Waves pitch shifter on it with 2 unison and one octave below mixed very subtle. The vocals are also doubled with a high part in the pre chs and a low part in the chs. As the main vocal goes up in range the backing vocal goes down so it thickens up the main vocal. I use Melodyne to tune the vocals to pitch when needed. The guitars and vocals were tracked through a Toneport UX1 using a SM57 on the vocals with the Studio Mic Pre in the Toneport. The guitars are all Toneport AC30, the Achtung Baby patch and another custom patch. Pretty much everything gets compression and there is a Waves SSL Compressor on the master bus. I use UAD, Waves and Logics plugins. That's about it! :)

PS,

The track was mastered in Wavelab using Waves plugins.

Thats badass Bro. I have it in the cans and the mix is exceptional. I especially like your verbs. Very etheral without sounding mirky.

Got sort of a Smiths/Morresey (sp) feel to it.

I'm jealous.
