Rainbow Conneection

Re: Rainbow Conneection

- play with a metronome
- consider playing it with thumb and fingers to smooth out the attack and tone
- neck pickup and roll the tone back a bit?

Lol, That was the neck pickup. It just turns into mush when I put the bass up higher. And I have Stainles Steel strings on so the brightens up the tone. I'll have strings with a wound G by that time.

This is bad, the audition is in like two weeks. I have no rythm or steady tempo. This is what I was afraid of. :smack:

Re: Rainbow Conneection

Dude it's not really that bad, don't get discouraged. Your playing has improved a lot, and your tone has improved more than I can say. But yeah, you just need to work on making it flow better.

But it'll come, don't worry.

Re: Rainbow Conneection

yeah, dont give up ... it is impressive that you are diggin into harder pieces .. much respect for the dedication

Re: Rainbow Conneection

Thanks, the chords took me like an hour to figure out. But it helped my understanding of chords and intervals.

Re: Rainbow Conneection

This is a waltz (3/4) time and the rhythm is played on a banjo. So forget trying to match the tone on the original. It ain't gonna happen. You can either darken the tone and sound more jazzy and subdued or you can try to dial in an acoustic tone.

You need to time your strokes like this:

Count: 1-2-3, 2-2-3, 3-2-3, and so on
Rest - Stroke - Stroke, Rest - Stroke - Stroke

Once you get good then you can go:

Count: 1 - 2 & 3, 2 - 2 & 3 and so on
Rest - Stroke and Stroke, where the and accentuates the up beat.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll work on it.
